The Yucaipa community banded together to help a family that had become homeless. The community fixed up a trailer so the family could have a home. Then Steps 4 Life donated all the household items to make it a real home. Here is Cynthia with the family, happy to be in their new home.
Steps 4 Life was among hundreds of volunteers giving their time to make another successful Redlands Bike Classic. The weather was cloudy and cool - perfect for bicycle racing. This is a wonderful community event and the Steps 4 Life enjoyed being a part of it.
Congratulations to Taylor on his 3 year clean and sober anniversary. Taylor has worked very hard in our program and the results are showing. He is doing very well in his job at a local restaurant and takes great pride in his work. We are so glad he is part of our community and we are very proud of him. Great job Taylor!!
Steps 4 Life is grateful to the Rockford Foundation for hosting our children in their Burrage Buddies Program at the Burrage Mansion. The Burrage Buddies after-school enrichment workshops give adult volunteers an opportunity to help less-privileged children in our community. Grownups get to share their expertise and talents with small groups of appreciative kids from Boys & Girls clubs, Micah House, Think Together, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts of course Steps 4 Life.
Our children got to golf, learn about photography, play soccer, go on trail walks, play games and do other activities on the beautiful Burrage Mansion grounds. We are so appreciative for the Rockford Foundation's commitment to not only the Steps 4 Life children but so many other young people in our community.
Steps 4 Life organized an Arts and Crafts Day at the Women and Children's House. The moms worked with their children to bedazzle some glasses and makes lots of other fun creations with paper, glue and magic markers. Then the fun part was putting on their new glasses and showing off their creativity. They all had a great time.
Our men had a great time watching Super Bowl LI and while enjoying a traditional football meal hamburgers and fixings. The game did not disapoint as New England staged one of the greatest comebacks in football history. But regardless of whether the men were rooting for the Falcons or Patriots, they all had a great day watching the game together.
Our women and children had a wonderful Christmas celebration at one of the Steps 4 Life Houses. Steps 4 Life received numerous donations from generous organizations and was able to purchase some wonderful presents for the children. Christmas joy filled the house as the children received their new bicycles, dolls, stuffed animals, games and other toys. Steps 4 Life is grateful to our numerous sponsors who make such a difference in these families lives.
We are grateful to HAMCB for their generous donation of bicycles for the children in our Women's Houses. The bikes were beautiful and the youngsters were so excited to ride them around. It really made for a special Christmas for our families. Special thanks to Jimmy for helping make this happen.
We were thrilled when our Steps 4 Life children were invited to the annual Shop with a Cop event at the Walmart in Highland. This amazing day was sponsored by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Employees' Benefit Association, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Walmart and other organizations. Our children were paired with San Bernardino Sheriffs and San Manual Public Safety Officers and were each given $200. The children were able to purchase items to help them be prepared for school and have a successful year. The deputies help the kids pick their items and keep track of their budget as they make their way down the Walmart aisles. Walmart donated the sales tax in order for the children to maximize their spending potential.
Smiles were all around on the faces of the children and the sheriffs and police officers. We are so grateful to SEBA, San Manuel and Walmart for the love and generosity that they showed our children.
